Well I never thought I’d be writing another of this post
topic, particularly because the last
one I did is from 5 years ago and as you know, I am firmly entrenched with Star Wars the Old Republic (SWTOR). And before
you ask no this isn’t because of the Warcraft
movie, I have seen it and enjoyed it, I actually did this in January and
February this year so it was well before it came out.
Pandaria!
But to be perfectly honest I had always wanted to go back,
back to the familiarity of almost 5 years of playing, you’d think it’d be kind
of comforting you know, but with all of the changes, it wasn’t really. I’ve
mentioned before all of the things that World of Warcraft has over SWTOR, the
massive number of beautiful animal mounts,
the almost perfect dual
talent specialization system and mostly importantly the Australian
based servers which I was excited to try out to see the difference.
Possibly what I really needed was to go back to the good old medieval style,
yes SWTOR is great but all the futuristic techy items and ships and planets get
to me a bit sometimes and all I want is to run through a beautiful forest glade
or even a ruined castle, throwing fireballs or wielding a cruddy sword and
shield, of course I do have Skyrim (and soon the Witcher) for this but it’s a
bit of a different game.

I suppose you can say I’ve been looking for an excuse
all this time and that excuse came when I met someone who had a keen interest
in the game and that inspired me to delve back in, in an attempt to play with
them. Firstly I had to update my account as I suspected I only had up to the Cataclysm
expansion as this is where I had previously left off but strangely enough all
accounts had now been freely upgraded with Mists
of Pandaria, So all I had to do was purchase Warlords
of Draenor then I’d be fine, so I did. With my Battle.net account details
updated I then copied my friends game across to my machine so the update would
be faster. I had saved my WTF profile folders but decided to start anew this
time but I did use them to remind myself of all of the “Mods” I used to use, I
then installed the amazingly awesome Curse
Client which makes installing and updating your WoW mods an absolute
breeze, it appears to be compatible with Skyrim and Minecraft now so I must try
it out for those.

Unfortunately though when I went to create a character my
friend played on a Korean server where I couldn’t join as I had an oceanic
account and could only play on the US and AU servers, we mucked around with
accounts trying different things but unfortunately it wasn’t going to work so I
decided I’d just play the same game with her but not together and I guess this
was ok because we had very different playstyles. She basically liked to
powerlevel with her friends and farm instances for gold and items, she did
raids and instances but mostly lower level ones to breeze through them and
obtain all of the gold and items in stark contrast to myself who does things
slowly and casually taking in the content. I couldn’t watch several times when
I saw her and her friend kill several well-known raid bosses including the Lich King himself as if it
was nothing, just the two of them going at it, then during the interval before
he was finally defeated she remarked that she had to wait so long, like
goddamn, I haven’t even got to see most of those bosses and the events and
cinematics that happen with them and being a lorewhore myself (hah!) I couldn’t
see how she could skip them. So I don’t think I could have kept up with her
anyway. In any case, there were a few things I wanted to do if I ever went back
to WoW, see the Goblin and Pandaren starting areas for one, create a Monk, and basically see and experience all of the changes that
have happened on an Oceanic server of course.

I logged in and had
a look at all my old characters and oh man the nostalgia, I noticed that pretty
much nothing had changed, they were all still there, everything was all fine
after all this time, I guess no-one’s going to hack your account if it’s not
active are they? Unless of course they log in to your Battle.net account and
subscribe for you but that seems unlikely. I was trying to think how I’d go
about choosing an oceanic server then I realised I already had all of my
alliance characters on the Nagrand server already. I don’t remember doing that
but meh, it was good enough because now I could make my Human Monk, yes a human Monk because my warrior always looked the
best of my alliance characters with the armor looking like they fit already
etc. You could argue that I should have made a Night elfPriest as I’d never made either of them but of
course my desire to create a Monk was greater and yes I haven’t made a Gnome
either but I don’t think I’ll ever make one. So I made a Monk and started out
in good old Elwynn Forest,
man it felt so familiar like I’d done it heaps of times before but I really
hadn’t because on my warrior I ran from Elwynn into Stormwind, caught the Deeprun
Tram to Ironforge then ran to the Dwarf starting area in Kharanos, all
this just to be able to ride a giant
goat of course that reputation requirement is now gone I think.

Anyway so I
first had to get my mods set up and working and I actually used my warrior to
test them out I had all the old favourites including:
Deadly
Boss Mods: Which is split into different packages now otherwise it’d be way
too huge, but I was impressed of how it worked with just normal world dungeon
bosses.
Altoholic:
Always a favourite, allows you to see what items your alts and wearing and what
things they have in the bank plus a whole lot of other stuff.
Auctioneer:
Very useful for creating Auctions, does all of the undercutting work for you.
Atlas
and AtlasLoot:
Not essential but I looove looking at maps and boss loot.
Move
anything: This was very powerful, it enables you to move, scale, hide and
adjust transparency of just about any screen element in WoW. It was pretty much
like the SWTOR UI adjustment screen except a bit more powerful, it even allowed
you to remove the graphic around the bottom action bar allowing me to see much
more.

User this for extra support with actionbars and includes much more of them.
Monkeyquest:
Used this at first as it was a minimal and pretty cool looking quest tracker
but then I realised that some quests needed you to click the quest tracker to
finish or continue a quest and this one didn’t allow you to do that so I
removed it.
Altoholic, one of my favorite ever mods, being a serious alt maker myself.
So I played and got used to the Monk moves reminded me a bit
of combat Rogue abilities, I suppose the two classes do have a certain
connection with one just using weapons a lot more, I remembered in Diablo that
I didn’t end up finishing it with my Monk because there seemed to be not enough
distinction to which abilities he used his weapons with and which ones he used
his hands or feet. But in WoW it seems to be different as you always seem to
use your hands and feet apart from your main attack where you can use your
weapons. The abilities weren’t too hard to get used to, a bunch of kicks and
punches mixed in with weapons and chi attacks, I had this AOE cone ability
called Fists
of Fury which did a huge amount of damage while stunning the enemy, while
performing it my character stood with his front foot forward rapidly punching
the air in front of him, it looked absolutely ridiculous but was very powerful.

I was also glad to see that Monks actually did have Auto-attack
despite being announced that they wouldn’t, you auto-attacked with your weapons
but you could use the Jab ability to hit with
them too. The new talent
system wasn’t too hard to get used to, as simple as it was, it’s most
definitely based on the Diablo system of having the talents organised into
sections. Having getting only to 40 during my Monk’s run in wow I only got the
first two talent tiers, one being increasing mobility, the second being various
abilities involving ranged Chi energy attacks which were great to finally get
as unlike the Warrior and Rogue who have the ability to use Thrown weapons, Monks having no
ranged ability at all in the early game, so you could understand I was grateful
to get this, I first used Chi Burst but then switched to Chi Wave as
you could target enemies in the air and it also bounced around healing allies
or damaging enemies.

So I did Elwynn Forest
then Westfall
and took on the Defias Brotherhood which actually had quite a
good story with an “oh wow” moment this time. As you may know since Cataclysm starting quests in
an area requires answering the “Hero’s Call” or “Warchief’s
Command” board for that particular zone and then get sent to the initial
quest giver, quite the departure from the times where I used to run all over
the zone grabbing all of the quests I could find, it kind of works out better
as the zone has its own story sort of like SWTOR has the planet story arc as
well as your class story. The very first instance I did was the Deadmines, and boy this is
where my appreciation of the current World of Warcraft really slipped. It was
easy to get a group of course as the Dungeon Finder now
include searches through multiple realms so increases the pool of players
exponentially though the way in which the instances are run was disappointing,
firstly this may be me just complaining but when the group forms I’d much
rather we get sent to the meeting stone then have to find our way into the
instance which used to be great fun battling to get to the actual portal but of
course now with inter-realm LFG that wouldn’t work as the meeting stones are
outside the instance.
I do some questing in Westfall with the Monk which include this harvesty machine thing.
Instance quest givers are now thankfully inside the
instance itself allowing you to pick the obligatory “destroy all bosses”
checklist one and any others though it does make it a bit jarring when you’re
trying to read the quest text and get involved with what’s happening in the
instance when everyone else is already halfway down the first hall of enemies.
And speaking of that everything goes so goddamn fast now, it got to a point in
Wrath of the Lich King that no-one bothered with crowd
control (or CC) anymore they just let it rip and even more so now, the
other thing is because everyone else has Heirlooms which in case you
didn’t know are pieces of armor that scale with your level making you pretty
damn powerful, so powerful it seems that a whole group with heirlooms can
plough through an instance with only two dps.

The reason for this was because I was actually doing
dungeons to gear up, and being new to the class and returning to the game, I
had to look over the various pieces or armor that dropped to check if it was
good for me and also check my quest objectives were being met. This combined
with the fact that the rest of group who were obviously heirloomed up, had done
this instance maybe 200 times already and didn’t need to bother, and were
destroying the instance at a frantic pace, is why I didn’t really get a change
to do much DPS at all, it was laughable and I wonder why I wasn’t kicked from
the group but I guess I remained just competent enough for them to not notice,
or maybe they just didn’t care. Even so I when I looked at the recount DPS
meter and saw that I had done about 5-10% of the DPS was kind of disheartening.

Another thing was the massive amount of XP that you had, WoW hasn’t got the
level-syncing to the zone that you are in that SWTOR has so if you do too many
instances you’ll find that you level up and your quests go grey pretty fast,
which kind of sucks if you are enjoying the quest storyline in a certain zone.
I guess if you really like questing in the zones you can only do an instance if
it ties in with the zone you are in currently, such is the case with Westfall
and the Deadmines, though I tend to progress through the zones that are nearest
to me that make the most sense i.e I’m a human so I will do the human lands
first. So on the Eastern Kingdoms Continent I would do in order Elwynn Forest, Westfall, Redridge Mountains,
Duskwood, Northern
Stranglethorn, Cape of Stranglethorn, Western Plaguelands,
Eastern Plaguelands,
Badlands, Searing
Gorge, Burning Steppes and finally The
Blasted Lands, so even if I did all of them negating the fact that I may
have to skip some from doing instances with others etc gives me 8 instances to
choose from, Deadmines,
The
Stockade,Scholomance,
Stratholme,
Uldaman, Blackrock
Depths, Lower Blackrock Spire and Upper Blackrock Spire, 3 of which being in Blackrock Mountain
and are about the same level range.
In Redridge Mountains on my new Grey Ram, it seems the faction and race restrictions have been removed for all mounts.
I spose this isn’t too bad but the other
problem is there’s not enough in the earlier majority of zones it’s only saved
by Blackrock spire having 3 and you can only do them once otherwise your XP
gets out of whack and I can’t help but think about all of the cool gear you’re
missing out on but I guess you can just buy some with all that quest gold.
Really makes me appreciate the SWTOR data crystal reward currency and the
level-sync system.
Zen Pilgrimage to the Peak of Serenity
So in any case being a Monk wasn’t bad, I enjoyed using the Zen Pilgrimage Spell
that takes you to the Peak of Serenity to learn new skills, similar to
how Druids go to
the Moonglade.
But to be perfectly honest I didn’t want to keep playing, by doing too many
dungeons/instances I had gained way too many levels and had to go directly from
Duskwood to Eastern Plaguelands where as soon as I got to level 40 I decided
that was it. I told myself before that one of the things I wanted to do when
going back to WoW was try the Goblin and Pandaren starting areas so I decided
to just do this and be over with it.

It was during this time that I actually thought I may try
getting my Horde characters over to an oceanic realm for free, yes that right for free. The reason was that back in
October 2014 the Australian-based servers had been announced
and also a two week window was offered to players to transfer their characters
to an oceanic realm, but of course as I wasn’t playing then I missed out on
that. So I thought, what the hey?
There’s no harm in asking if I could transfer all of my Horde characters to an
oceanic realm too, so I put in a ticket and sure enough they accepted the
request and transferred my characters to the Nagrand Realm. Of course there was
one big issue, I had forgotten that there was a limited number of character
slots (10) so basically there wasn’t enough and two of my characters were left
on Silvermoon US as they couldn’t fit.

Originally I was going to level up a
bank alt and send them across with all of my bank items, but since I had two
characters still available on Silvermoon, I loaded them up with all of my bank
items and replied back to Blizzard. Basically I said that not all of my
characters were moved and wondered how they made that mistake of not knowing
that Nagrand wouldn’t hold them all and some would be left behind, so they said
they could transfer the remaining two but they did to another realm which
didn’t help, eventually the issue was partially resolved but them transferring
my remaining two characters to the Caelestrasz realm as this and Nagrand are
now “connected” in a way that you can send mail and group and be in guilds with
players/characters from that different realm their names are just marked as
Hbui – Caelestrasz for example.
Not the best outcome, but it’s functional, what I really
should have done was tell them to dump all of my Horde characters on a random
Oceanic server and left it at that because unlike SWTOR you can’t send mail to
the other faction in WOW. Another thing that sucks is all of the bags on my
Bank alts were soulbound so I couldn’t send them over and had to vendor them
which sucks majorely as they would be so useful when setting up again and I
spent heaps of time (and money) creating them. But it doesn’t really matter
anyway as I don’t think I’ll be going back unless SWTOR goes down.
Ok so I then started a Goblin, and of
course because I wasn’t really going to be playing this character I didn’t want
to make him a Priest, so I made him a Warlock , why
not? I had actually tried creating my Rogue as a Goblin
but when I found out the Goblin starting area wasn’t the same “You have now
come of age, start your trials” thing I didn’t fancy it. And I still don’t
really, it’s so far removed from the traditional fantasy medieval theme that
WoW has it was almost ridiculous, in fact it was ridiculous, so I’ll explain.
The Goblin starting area is on the island of Kezan where you are
apparently the second in command to Trade Prince Gallywix and are poised to take
his place and you have all these staff and assistants and your get a goddamn
car where you drive around and pick up your friends, compete in a football
match, go to the bank, the have a party that is crashed by pirates. Goblin
abilities are pretty entertaining, they have [Rocket Jump] which is good for launching
yourself down hills and [Rocket Barrage]
works as an extra ranged ability, you can also call in a [Pack Hobgoblin] to get access to your
bank for 1 min. I think I actually got far enough to get the Metamorphosis
ability for Demonology which was pretty cool as I’m so small and I also noticed
when goblins throw fireballs/shadowbolts etc they “bowl” then underarm lol.
Oh yeh, Goblin Racecar, this is just getting ridiculous.
The island of Kezan has seen better days with contaminated
brown soil and patches of brown grasswith metal buildings and machines everywhere like some kind of
industrial revolution dysotpia. So eventually after searching through mines and
sneaking around and other stuff the volcano on the island erupts because of you know who, doing you know what and you have
to get the hell out of there on Gallywix’s private yacht no less. Following a
short scene where you are shot at by the alliance navy you wind up on the Lost Isles
which is another zone you can only get to when starting a goblin, it’s quite a
change from the isle of Kezan, full of lush jungles. It’s here where you first
meet the Horde, specifically Aggra and eventually you end up saving Thrall himself. You also deploy
the ridiculous Town-in-a-Box,
run into the curious new Pygmy
race and also the Naga are
around too, I enjoyed the Vicious Vale section although it being quite
ridiculous, the whole story there was pretty ridiculous.

You eventually defeat
the Pygmy’s who are abducting goblins and turning them into zombies by
defeating their god Volcanoth and join the Horde in the Fight against the
alliance in an aerial battle which was quite spectacular. You then join with
all your friends and set sail for Durotar and are tasked with delivering a
message to the current Warchief Garrosh Hellscream
yes Garrosh as some of you may know he’s not around anymore but funnily enough
he’s standing off to the side with Vol’jin on the throne, but
anyway I guess that’s just because of the lore. So after meeting the Warchief
you supposedly go off to Azshara
as that’s the logical step, I should know I’ve done it on my Troll Rogue and
there are goblins everywhere, they’ve taken over the damn place even sculpting
the entire zone into a giant horde
symbol.
I set off to free Thrall from the Alliance.
So that was the Goblins, there was only one thing left to
do, yes to my brothers chagrin I made a Panda! or Pandaren (pronounced pan-DA-ren) yes I made a lovable but fierce
looking ginger Pandaren with orange fur and big sideburns and a mohawk and
after much deciding I made him a hunter as that’s what my second character was.
Pandaren hunters also start with a crossbow weapon and a turtle as their pet, which is
pretty cool but I don’t really fancy it, I liked starting off with nothing
other than a short blade like the rogue used to have, I mean before cataclysm
one of the purchasable weapons in the orc starting area was a piece of wood
with a goddamn nail through it lol. As a Pandaren you start on the Wandering Isle aka
Shen-zin Su the great turtle, yes it’s a gigantic turtle about the size of a
small zone, and man is it pretty with bamboo and asian-style buildings and yes
it’s basically WoW meets Kung-fu Panda and yes I’ve been over all that already
in a previous
post.
You start off at the Shang Xi Training Grounds where you meet Master Shang Xi
and get on with your training, it’s kind of weird being anything but a Monk
with the Pandaren starting area just as it was very odd being a Druid in the Worgen starting
area specifically because you weren’t Worgen yet and had no contact with the
Night Elves. But in any case it looked great and was fun, I named my Turtle
Sidun after that town in the middle east and went off to train and of course
find out what was troubling the land, Pandaren males are quite portly and I
don’t know how they run with that belly and those legs as they sort of galomp
around haha.

who have conflicting styles but get stuff done nonetheless. I enjoyed running
along ropes and jumping across posts and getting turned into other animals in
the Singing
Pools, the centre of the island is the Temple of Five Dawns
and you must do various missions to bring all of the cute ancient spirits
(Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Heart, with your powers combined I am Captain
Planet!) together for some reason I can’t remember and you fight a great big dragon which you fight with
fireworks XD. It is then very sad as you go to the Wood of Staves and say
goodbye to your Master.

You then actually talk to the giant turtle Shen-zin Su
himself and he’s got a “thorn in his side” apparently and that “thorn” is the Skyseeker an Alliance ship
with Horde prisoners that has crashed into the island and you work together to
remove it and heal Shen-zin Su. It is then that you have the choice, do you go
Horde or Alliance, so I thought what the hell and went Horde with Ji Firepaw.
And man, was it scary, and also weird, so you travel to Durator and enter
Orgrimmar and as I said before you meet Garrosh standing off to the side of the
Throne as per the Goblin ending and he takes you on his tour and states that
“your brethren who joined the alliance are now your enemies” and Ji is kind of
set aback seeing how his new leader segregates the city and makes him fight in
the Ring
of Valor, and then leaves and Ji basically just has a tent in the middle of
the Valley of Honor. Gee great welcome, to be honest if I had chosen the horde
I’d think I made the wrong choice.

But anyway that was over with too and that was that for my
brief foray back into WoW. It’s been fun but I really think until something
happens to the Old Republic or something even better comes out (which I doubt)
I will stick to SWTOR. WoW will always have a place in my er, memories and as
I’ve said again and again, it had it’s good points, and it’s bad points, but it
was nice to go back, at least for a while and with Legion on
the Horizon, it will be interesting to see how things change yet again.
Well here it is, the final expansion to Skyrim and I’ve only
finished it almost 3 years since it came out, I should feel a sense of
completion but nothing ever seems complete with this game though I maintain
that I’ve done most of it, pretty much all I can do now. I had previously
decided to do Dragonborn
with my Imperial-siding Nord Brogan that you’d know from aprevious post
as I did Dawnguard
with my more steathly-type character so it’s only fair. Firstly though I
couldn’t get the game to recognise that I had the expansion so I had to
download a new version of the game so I could finally see those cultist guys
who then tried to kill me to no avail cause I’m level 45 and have full
enchanted Dragonbone armor and weapons and are boosted with skills and are
pretty damn prepared but with the scaling effect you can still be killed quite
quickly if you’re silly. The main
questline for this expansion involves an encounter with some Cultists
and leads to you travelling to the Island of Solstheim with is north-west of Vvardenfell
which itself is a part of Morrowind the home of the Dunmer or
Dark Elves. Solstheim was given to the Dark Elves by the Nords when the Red
Mountain erupted creating a mass exodus of refugees from Morrowind. Your
involvement there comes from the Cultists' Orders you findthat
mention the name Miraak who is apparently the first Dragonborn and the main
antagonist of the series but not the only one.

So I had gotten the first quest and was ready to go to be
off to Solstheim, but the problem was the latest save I had seemed to be before
I’d actually finished the civil war so I still had some castles and outposts to
clear before I could kill Ulfric himself.
So I thought I may as well do that but firstly I had decided I wanted to get
some more skill ups with single handed weapons and also blocking, so I got my Dragonbone Mace and Dragonplate Shield and went in for a bash with
my trusty companion Lydia
killing Stormcloaks left and right. The shield and mace fighting style has some
pretty brutal cinema kills (beheading) etc and was a lot of fun. So we took over more and more territoryuntil
we stormed Winterfell oops I mean Windhelm and I cut the bastard and his lieutenant
down for the second time. I was sure it was the second time too as I was sure I
had done it before and listened to General Tullius’ magnificent speech but anyway It’s
done now and I can get on with things. I did return once or twice to the
Winterhold Throne room to find all of the ousted Stormcloak-backing Jarls now
sitting at the table as usual but I noticed that the dead bodies of Ulfric Stormcloak
and Galmar Stone-Fist were still there.

This is
because of a bug in Skyrim that dead bodies will sometimes not despawn so they
are lying around where they are killed, which can often be annoying because
they are in your house or on this spot of land which you want to keep looking
nice and clear of dead fackin bodies of course. This issue was rampant on the
island of Solstheim where much of the story takes place as there were I had to
resort to the /disable console
command to get rid of any annoying dead bodies (including dragon skeletons)
that were around the two places I stayed, one island and a house I had been
given. Funnily enough it took me awhile to remember I could do that, thank god
for having Skyrim on PC eh? those console peasants must just have to deal with
it. Though it actually suits in this situation in this case as both Ulfric and
Galmor bodies are fallen slumped against the Throne at the feet of the
replacement Jarl Brunwulf
Free-Winter, I swear that would be one hell of a sight to behold for all of
those exiled Jarls hah, so I just left it be.

I then went down to
the docks, got on the ship and set sail to Solstheim where after a brief loading
sequence we arrived at Raven Rock, the main town of Solstheim.
It’s a mixture of Nordic and Dark Elf architecture with those underground
hovels that they have, I also noticed the pillars of black stone, the dead
trees and ash everywhere, I also saw the odd looking shrine thingy that some
random people were building a weird monument around an All-Maker Stones which are similar in nature to Skyrim's Standing Stones, as well as Cyrodiil's
Rune
Stones and Doomstones. Everybody sounded a little unfriendly except
for the blacksmith who was actually Nordic and asked me to retrieve his Ancient Nordic Pickaxe from Crescius Caerellius in the nearby mine.

But
first I thought I should research what houses I could get in Solstheim and the
only one was Severin Manor and to do that I had to do a series of
quests, one of which, The Final Descent involved the nearby mine and
the dude with the pickaxe himself so I went in and spoke to the old geezer and
his Dunmer wife then went down the mine where I saw this mysterious new ore
called Stalhrim
which is apparently some kind of enchanted ice the ancient Nords used to seal
their dead for protection and it can only be mined with you guessed it, an Ancient Nordic Pickaxe. I then found Bloodskal Barrow and the Bloodskal Blade which I hoped to be a new weapon
and armor type that you could create but it was apparently unique, it emitted
some sort of energy blast when power attacking and you need to use this to open
the door which took me a few tries but I got in and took on a dragon priest Zahkriisos
and got the first Dragon Aspect shout and I wish I actually got the
rest and used it as the effect would be very impressive indeed.

This first quest
is also where I found the first Black Book and had my first trip to
Apocrypha,
the plane of Oblivion belonging to the Daedric
PrinceHermaeus Mora who says hello when you first arrive,
and man is it funky, fighting goddamn Seekers and Lurkers and those freakin
annoying tentacles coming out of the water not to mention the darkness that
apparently hurts you. So all in all it’s a pretty dangerous place but necessary
in order to become powerful enough to defeat Miraak through getting more shouts
etc, at the end of these Black Book “Trials” you come across this freakishly
large book, the first being The
Winds of Change which gives you three options of hidden knowledge and boy Companion's Insight was a no-brainer, my
brother had told me about it before and man not having to look out for your
companion when attacking man that was good. After doing this you get warped
back to Solstheim being in some kind of trance before. So I emerged from the
barrow about halfway up the coast and sprinted back to Raven Rock where I talked
to Crescious and got my Ancient Nordic Pickaxe and ran back down to mine the
Stahlrim in the hopes of using it for weapons and armor.

I fight some seekers then get stuck on a puzzle
After that I had to find somewhere to stash my treasure as I
couldn’t carry it around till I had gotten the house so after some research I
chose this small island off the coast of Raven Rock which apparently had a
chest that your stored items didn’t disappear from. So I drank a water walking
potion (which were very useful) and cleared out the Ash
Hoppers that were there who sort of fall apart when dead but I still had
the corpses of two Reavers who
are Dunmer bandits you find around Solstheim. When returning to Skyrim I had
forgotten about the /disable command and tried to chuck them off of the side
and into the water in the hope that they’d float away which they didn’t until I
swam them out into the ocean. But anyway I offloaded my things into the chest
and continued on with March of the Dead where I had to kill a bunch of Ash Spawn
and defeat their undead leader at Fort Frostmoth. On the way I met some
this weird guy
and helped fund his excavation
of a Nordic Tomb
but never got it finished unfortunately. I was finally able to do Served
Cold and investigate the murder plot, and after storming Ashfallow Citadel, with Lydia and I clumsily
getting hit by a bunch of traps I finally got rid of the killers and was
rewarded Severin manor which I quickly moved into. It’s a very roomy underground
house which is certainly much better than a damn island, I found once I had
cleared the mine everyone was much friendlier towards me and congratulated me
on a job well done.

After that it was time get on with the main
quest and I started with The Temple of Miraak where I saw more
enthralled people working on the Temple and met Frea who was
trying unsuccessfully to free her Skaal brethren,
we then headed down into the temple and kicked ass defeating whatever was in
the way and we eventually find another black book Waking Dreamswhere you come face
to face with Miraak himself who remarks about you killing Alduin and how he’s so
powerful and he will return and Solstheim will be his blah blah blah. I then go
with Frea to the Skaal Village. And meet her father Storn Crag-Strider
who tells me to go to Saering's Watch and learn the Bend Will shout in
order to purge the All-Maker Stones and free the people there from
the influence, I did this with the wind stone then a goddamn Lurker appeared
and did all those people who should be grateful that I saved them come to help
noo they did not, Lydia and I had to take them on ourselves. I read that when
you know all three words to this shout you can use to tame and ride dragons which
I did for a short time in the story, (more on that later) while exploring the
world and Cleansing the Stones I found a few interesting
creatures such as the jellyfish-like Netchs and the
goblin-like Reiklings
who I was either massacring in large numbers or strangely doing quests for them.
As you find a fairly intelligent English speaking Reikling who have taken over
a mead hall,
I didn’t end up finishing their quest to find their Bristleback
but may go back there again and help the survivors retake Thirsk mead hall as
the quest looks fairly interesting.
I meet Frea at the Temple of Miraak then get attacked as usual.
I traveled around the island for a while doing various
quests and investigating caverns and barrows and sometimes finding more black
books and also fighting dragons with Miraak appearing and stealing their souls
so I couldn’t get them, what a prick. I also got a bit sick of using Mac and
Shield at this point and fashioned myself a Dragonbone Warhammer which is
basically a dragon femur fashioned into a weapon and looks pretty funny when
you’re bashing people with it. I wanted this cause I hadn’t used a warhammer
for a while as I previously used the Dragonbone Greatsword and had used a Daedric Warhammer on my first character.
One interesting and annoying thing that happened while the stones were not yet
cleansed is that when you went to sleep you often woke up to find yourself
working on one of the moments and have to run back to where you need to go.
Though this wasn’t too hard if my horse was around, I had chosen a mottled grey
horse this time as I though it fitted well with the landscape.

Anyway back onto the story I then had to travel to Tel Mithryn which is
a giant mushroom and has lots of other giant mushrooms around it where I also
met some hunter and joined a hunt for Netchs. I met Neloth in his giant mushroom house and
travelled to Nchardak to find another black book and more knowledge to
help defeat Miraak, after the three of us took down the brigands living there
we found the Dwemer
ruin was quite technical with rising water and the use of dwemer cubes to
control them and the doors, I ended up getting the black book and also the Kagrumez Resonance Gem which I used in
another ruin Kagrumez which is interestingly some kind of Dwemer ‘Hall of
Trials’ though you need more stones to unlock its full potential.

After getting
the black book The Path of Knowledge I immediately read it
and after a lengthy sequence in Apocrypha I came face to face (or face to
whatever the hell he has eyes and tentacles?) with Hermaeus Mora himself who
tells me if I give him the secrets of the Skaal then he will grant me the last
‘Bend Will’ shout to be able to defeat Miraak.
I confide with Hermaeus Mora once again and also check out my Dragonbone Warhammer oh yeh
You then take the book to Storn
Crag-Strider at the Skaal village and he reads the book and then ‘Herma-Mora’
as they call him comes out again and takes the secrets from Storn, killing him.
So then Freya is sad obviously and you know what you gotta do, so you pick up
the Waking Dreams book and read it for the
final quest and showdown with Miraak. This leads to quite possibly the longest
section in Apocrypha with 6 “chapters” to complete but eventually you get to
tame a dragon and try out some dragon combat which to be honest isn’t that
good, you can’t control where the dragon goes you can only order them to attack
enemies or land and if you don’t do anything they just fly around.

But soon enough I
was at the highest point and faced Miraak, and after some chit-chat we got to
it, it seems you have to defeat him three times as when he gets low health he
becomes ethereal and summons a dragon and steals it’s soul restoring his health
completely, he wasn’t too hard to defeat though, I didn’t have Lydia to help so
I used Scroll of Conjure Storm Atronach and the Sanguine Rose
to distract him while I ran in and beat the crap out of him with my warhammer.
Once he gets low on health for a 4th time Hamaeus Mora appears and
he’s pissed that Miraak has defied him and he raises him up and spears him with
a tentacle and says that you are his new Dragonborn champion. Then you get some
reward allowing you to respect skill trees but I didn’t bother as I didn’t need
it.

After that I had basically finished the main story but there was unfinished
business to attend to, most notably to find A New Source of Stalhrim so I picked up
the quest and rescued the Skaal blacksmith who gave me the knowledge of how to
make Stalhrim and a map of aplace where
it can be found. I’d already found a few pieces of Stalhrim but this place had
about 20 bodies all encased in Stalhrim it was like a smorgasbord but when I
tried to go back to Raven Rock I ran into a big, big problem as the game would
not load it just kept loading and loading.

As I mentioned before in Skyrim bodies don’t often disappear
quickly and although you can /disable to disable them it’d hard if there’s a
heap of them around as some animals like fish and bugs tend to have a glitch
where they keep spawning. I didn’t mention this before but one time when I was
at Raven rock I experienced some slowdown in FPS and notice there was a heap of
those Torchbugs
and River Betty
spawned around the one place, I tried shouting and various spells in order to
kill them but eventually couldn’t be bothered catching them all as I had done
before in my house in Falkreath. So had been away from Raven Rock for a long
time and my guess was they had spawned to such a degree that the game locked up
when trying to load the town, I confirmed this by spawning somewhere nearby and
trying to walk there, I got within about 300 metres and then the game loses FPS
and locks up and I have to close it with the task manager. I’ve tried a number
of things to fix this including the /kill 100 console command but it didn’t
make a difference cause their bodies would still be there, I need a way to
remove them from the game entirely similar to /disable except I can’t get
anywhere near them, I wonder actually if /disable disables all of them or that
particular one. Either way I had finished the main story, but most of my things
were now stuck in Raven Rock with no way of getting them back currently unless
I can some way warp directly into my house which may be a plan.
This is about as close as I can get to Raven Rock now
So that was as far as I have gone, I may actually finish off
some quests anyway that don’t require me to go to Raven Rock hopefully as I
have taken up temporary residence at the Abandoned Lodge near Raven Rock which is thankfully
out of range of the bug, I can get pretty close before it buggers up though. I
may have enough Stahlrim to make some armor but may just add some more as I’m
going to need a hell of a lot to replace all the weapons and armor for Lydia
and I. But I actually don’t think I’ll bother as the weapons do less damage
then my Dragonebone ones and the Stalhrim armor is the same armor rating and
only slightly lighter then Dragonplate armor. In any case I’ve done the whole
story and have finally finished all of the Skyrim expansions, was a pretty good
way to finish it off as well. I have only heard rumours of the new elder
scrolls so far which is exciting to hear but frankly I can wait, who knows I
might even delve into Skyrim yet again….

It’s a sad situation
where I’d rather ride a horse then a dragon.
Greetings again, it seems a very short time to be updating
on my Old Republic happenings but I guess there’s no harm in keeping up to date
especially with the big new expansion that has been introduced. Yes Knights of the Fallen Empire
(KOTFE) and boy is there some huge changes as I did mention last time. Update
4.0 brought with it a wealth of new changes. Most prominent being the new
“more RPG” style (KOTFE) storyline.

I had a bit of a rant in my guild Eternal
Oblivion’s forum which I will go over
here as well. Speaking as a person who liked the game the way it was, a Star
Wars MMO, I've never played Knights of the Old Republic and honestly didn't
feel the need for a huge hoo-haa into more involved story. Wasn't there enough
story in SWTOR already? it had ten times more voice acting and cutscenes then
WoW ever had, all you got in WoW most of the time was a box with scrolling
text. Now that I’ve played a bit of the new expansion I will go into it later
but I can say it’s definitely not bad though not that much of a change to
things really as it’s still an MMO and you can still do most things that you
used to be able to. Also I have obtained KOTOR from GOG.com and will be interested to see the comparison.
Knights of the Fallen Empire Trailer E3 2015
You can now level faster than ever before as I’m not sure
what the precise number is but your Main story and the Planet story “arc”
questlines give a huge amount of experience allowing you to level up to 60 by
just doing these missions. Of course I originally thought this was terrible as
you would level too fastand they
actually had a way to stop this by purchasing a special artefact from a Gree
vendor on the Fleet that was meant to stop the extra experience but I soon
stopped doing this because of another change they made to the levelling. This
“Planet Level Sync” is one of my favourite changes, this automatically lowers
your characters level to slightly higher than the planet’s maximum level for
quests and adjusts your Stats, Armor and Damage to reflect this. You also earn
scaled experience, so no matter how high I am for the planet the mobs and
missions still give experience to my level. So I decided to just go all out and
do every quests like I usually do but as I was questing on my Sage I noticed I
was only getting my main story and planet arc quests.

After looking it up
online I then realised the non story arc and ‘bonus series’ quests are now
titled “exploration missions” andyou
need to click a button on your map to reveal these which is kind of annoying as
I forgot about this with my Trooper too but should be fine once I’ve turned
them on for all characters. But doing all this as I had done before along with
the “exploration” and bonus series missions and also using up experience boosts
I had means that you level ridiculously fast, to give an example my Sage is
currently level 53 and doing level 28 quests on Alderran, as some have said at
this rate you’re going to get to 60 before you even finish the first chapter of
your class story. Which would be ok except I actually liked having less
abilities, I’m gaining them so quickly now it’s just too hard to manage, like
stuff I don’t even bother with as you won’t need it till late game when you
eventually get there.
Alderaan was originally for levels 28-32 and I've just started it and I'm level 53, I said it once and I'll say it again, thank god for planet sync
Heroic missions have also been changed as now they only
really need two people to complete and they are available in the field from
npc’s of course but also available all at once from a heroic mission console
near the main base. When you have them tracked here is also a very handy
ability that warps you to where the heroic mission is. I found what happens
then is that you just ask in general chat “who’s up for heroics?” and you get a
group of two or more people and do them all at once.

They now give an almost
complete set of arm which is dps or tank or dps or heal depending on your
class, though the downside is this armor is blue (prototype) rather than orange
(custom) so there’s a bit of a lack of custom gear around for a few reasons,
the first is because of the heroics giving out blues, me doing flashpoints in
solo mode and getting green (premium) and blue items and also the fact that
there is no more basic commendation gear vendors they only sell modifications
now but you can still buy the custom gear from the GTN. Here’s a guide to gear
colours in case you didn’t know the names as I often forget, thanks to CaptRogue from
the Shadowlands server for their excellent up-to-date gear guide.
Green items are Premium. Blue items are Prototype. Orange items are Custom. Purple items are Artefact.
Companions have now had a big overhaul, affection has been
replaced by ‘influence’
so it works apparently like Dragon Age where
instead of the companion’s “affection” for you going down when you choose to do
something they don’t like, you still gain influence it just comes up saying
they approve or disapprove, this still hasn’t deterred me from doing what my
companions prefer though. The other problem is if you originally had max
affection with one companion they start off at rank 10 which is 2100 influence,
more influence basically means the same as affection, they boost your presence stat and do their
tradeskills faster and better. This creates problems though in the character
progression as when I got to max affection I would have gotten the legacy
achievement and knew that I had seen all cutscenes and done all of that
companions side missions.

In the case of Elara Dorne for example
right before the path 4.0 I had gotten up to romancing her but after the patch
I couldn’t use any courting gifts on her and have not had any more cutscenes
with her. I have now found that Class Companion conversations will now unlock
based upon class story progression, rather than affection/influence thresholds
which is great to know so now I don’t have to build up on characters influence
to max so I can get all of the cutscenes with them. This is useful as I have
used Elara for quite a while and she amassing a bit too much influence (not to
mention all of the courting gifts I’m going to give her) if you ask me I need
to spread it around a bit.
As an affect of the new companion changes I was able to access all of my remaining companion conversations on my Assassin and Knight.
Some more changes include the fact that your companions gear
is now purely aesthetic, they no longer gain stats from it and their stats are
based on your level. I had mixed feelings about that at the start cause I loved
pimping out my companions and making them OP but now I can dress them up in
whatever I want which is hella fun, you can make them wear the craziest things
and give them awesome looking weapons too though there has been some changes to
what weapons different companions can use. When the patch first came in I got a
crapload of items in the mail that were previously worn by my companions, droid
armor was reduced to white vendor trash as armor slots which made no difference
to a companions appearance, such as droid armor, relics, earpieces etc was
removed, funnily enough with humanoid characters such as Qyzen Fess
you could still put gloves and boots on him although they didn’t show up.
Sometimes my companions still had some gear on, other times they didn’t most of
them were missing their pants for some reason which was weird. Also as well as
the armor they had, their original armor set that they had on when you
recruited them also came in the mail in case you wanted to dress them in that
which was nice.

Another change was that companions can now perform all three
combat roles with set abilities that are tied to their character type, for
example if you got Tanno Vik to heal he’d have the “tech-healer” set of
abilities whereas Kira Carsen would have the “light-force-healer”
abilities and Lord
Scourge would have “dark-force-healer” this works the same way with tanking
and dps they get a set of abilities appropriate to their character. Though it
doesn’t make some combinations any less ludicrous though like getting Talos
Drellik to tank or Khem Val to heal which really doesn’t make sense.
The other guy in my group sets his Lana companion to heal so I have my Senya as DPS, it's pretty useful as you can use whichever companion has the most influence for whichever role.
Flashpoints
(FPs) have also had a change, you can now do many of them in solo mode similar
to the Forged Alliances and Shadow of Revan patch FP’s which were previously
available to be Solo’ed as they were needed to be completed to advance in the
story. I love this change as now I can do all of the Flashpoints I miss out on
like The Battle of Ilum and The
False Emperor cause no-one wants to do them as they are old level 50 flashpoints
and everyone is already doing Shadow of Revan by that point. Additionally
almost every Flashpoint is now able to be done in tactical mode, which is great
(but also sad) as now you don’t need the “Holy Trinity” group of Tank, Healer
and DPS, but it’s still good as now I have almost no problem of doing lower
level flashpoints, I just pick the FP and look for a group. It’s weird cause
most of the time I select only one FP to do and I guess when it’s selecting a
random one for people it picks mine cause that’s the only one that’s selected.
I actually started doing every flashpoint I could in Solo mode as it’s just so
efficient but the problem is the gear just isn’t quite as good unless you do
the tactical version, I kind of forgot about this then realised I actually did
have the option of looking for a group if I wanted, must remember to do that in
the future.

The Primary stats, Strength, Cunning, Willpower etc are now
gone, replaced with the ‘Mastery’ stat, yes this is dumbing down of the game as
I didn’t see anything wrong with the primary stats but whatever. Datacrons are
now Legacy wide, so now you don’t have to bother getting the Fleet and Makeb
Datacrons for every character, thank god for that. Though there is one downside
as since you’re not going around collecting Matrix Shards they have removed
Matrix cubes from the game so you need another artefact to replace the one you
had. Gear commendations have now been changed to crystals which doesn’t make
too much difference apart from getting them confused with crafting crystals but
it’s good to know you can purchase mods right up to the level you are at. Crew
skills have also undergone a few changes, there was heaps to pickup from the
trainer. All of the old schematics are moved into an “Archive” folder and all
armor, weapons and accessories made are now either Prototype or Custom and are
“Adaptive” meaning they adjust to your character classes armor type . Material
requirements have been changed around and you now create “Components” which is
used to create new gear. I realised on my Trooper with these new changes that I
wouldn’t be able to make Droid armor anymore as there was no point, which made
the whole idea of Cybertech pretty redundant but there are other cool things
that I can make, I can’t make armouring anymore unfortunately but Enhancements
are now exclusive to Cybertechs.

So all in all some interesting changes, now that I got that
out of the way it’s back to character progression and I continue with my
Trooper who was just getting started on chapter two of the storyline which was
about stopping a new superweapon called ‘The Barrager’ that the Empire had
created to destroy entire fleets from a planets surface . So I travelled to Balmorra, a
sun-drenched war-torn grassy and rocky world and enlisted the help of a
‘demolitions expert’ who was none other than Tanno Vik
who has quite a shady personality and paid little or no heed to my authority much to the ire of Elara. I pondered doing some dark things
eventually doing one where I sold off some weapons for profit instead of giving
them to the republic which to be honest was kind of unfulfilling with the puny
amount of credits made though I suppose it scales to the level but man I could
have guessed it was trying to tell you it was the wrong thing to do.

I then
travelled to Quesh
to rescue a team called the “Safecrackers” who could apparently disable the
superweapon. I also helped out the Republic defend themselves against attacks
from the Hutt Cartel and Empire. This also meant teaming up with a particular
Hutt and saving them from a Sith Lord. I rescue the Safecrackers and managed to
do The Red Reaper
instance as well, and that was it I must remember not to split up these blog
updates in between character sessions makes it look like I didn’t spend enough
time with one of them.

And so it was back to Hxan my Jedi Knight and the Eternal
Empire expansion! Of course there was a couple of things I had to get through before that. For one as per the changes to companions with the conversations being based on story progression not affection I got to do all the rest of them all at once, and
then was the Ziost missions that
followed the Shadow
of Revan expansion.
Having a good old chat with your companions in your stronghold, fun times.
Previously I had completed the Yavin 4 missions that ended with
the supposed spirit of Emperor Vitiate
being thrust into the sky from a Massassi Temple on Yavin where he had tried to
usurp all life from the planet and failed but escaped into the galaxy. His
influence is then found on Ziost where Theron Shan goes to
investigate, then that’s when you come in. You both then investigate along with
Lana
Beniko and find that Vitiate is corrupting the minds of everyone on Ziost
including the force of Jedi that Theron brought with him and forcing them to do
his bidding, which through several encounters you manage to stop him briefly
through the use of a huge EMP. But in the end the coalition fails and you watch
as Vitiate destroys all life on the planet killing millions. You then can do
quite possibly the most lonely series of quests/dailies ever which involve
going back and investigating the dead world, man there was seriously no other
people there the first time I did it.

I got another set of gear which looked
identical to the Yavin
Pummeler gear I had though the stats were a bit better, I swear you get so
many sets of gear when doing expansions. I also headed to Ilum
to check out he Grey
Secant and do some Relics of the Gree Missions but found there wasn’t much
to do but there is some very nice reputation
rewards which I might look at getting later, that armor would look best on
an Imperial agent I bet. Speaking of armor, currently all of my companions were
wearing the Devoted allies
gear I had gotten them all from repeated running of the Yavin dailies and
weeklies to beef their stats up with new gear which was actually now redundant
because there was no more gear stats for companions, so before starting the
Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion I had found that the Devoted Allies
Force-Lord gear that I had given Kira was actually better
than my current gear. I think this was because although this gear used to be
Light Armor with Willpower as the main stat since the new patch it was now
marked as adaptable which means it changes stats to suit your class and also
its main stat was now mastery so could be used by any class.

So I gave my old Yavin and Citadel
pummeler gear sets to Kira and Lord
Scourge with an orange-and-white and red-and-black dye respectively and
they looked pretty cool. Meanwhile I put on Kira’s Devoted Allies
Force-Lord and man did I look ridiculous, the outfit is sort of like a
multi-layered robe with bandages, I reminded myself why I hid the helm while
Kira was wearing the armor as it had an odd looking Hutt-like hat with a hood
and a bandaged facemask. I was completely covered up to my eyes and with all
the bandages I looked like some sort of burns victim which would work well with
one of those hugely scarred faces you can create for your character, the helm
actually reminded me a lot of Pang
Tong from the Dynasty
Warriors games.

And so I went into the Knights of the Fallen Empire
expansion looking ridiculous, I’m going to explain the story from the Jedi
Knight point of view by the way as I know things might change for other
classes. So the expansion starts with a full on intro with that famous star
wars flying text with you and your crew heading into “Wild Space” investigating
something or other when you are set upon by the Eternal Empire,
meeting Darth Marr’s Fleet
along the way, on his ship you receive a interesting choice to tell you crew to
escape or have them stay, I told them to get out while they can of course being
the heroic Jedi Knight I am but am wondering what would happen if I had had
made them stay. So then your Fleet is overrun and you and your buddy Darth Marr
are captured Prince Arcann
who we’ve all seen in the trailer for KOTFE then we are brought before the
Eternal Throne where Emperor
Valkorion stands and I’m not going to spoil anything but you end up getting
frozen in carbonite for 5 years and when you come backthe entire Republic and Empire has been
defeated and it’s up to you to restore order, man no tall order huh?.
Darth Marr and I, the outfit seriously made me look fat, my huge chest and six-pack was for pretty much naught.
You have dreams while in carbonite, talking to Valkorion who
offers you many Dark Side choices of power, you are eventually awoken by Lana Beniko
who has come to rescue you and fill you in about what’s happened along with
your old buddy T7-01 who is the
only one of my crew still around. You also meet some new characters inc Koth
Vortena a Zakuul native and a smuggler who agrees to help Lana on her
seemingly impossible mission, Senya Tirall, wife of Valkorion and mother of his
children and Vaylin, who is
the sister of the twins Arcann
and Thexan. Knights of the
Fallen Empire is Divided into chapters
of which the first 9 were readily available via patch 4.0 with the others being
added later. So through the chapters you battle the Eternal Empire forces and
venture to some new planets including a gas giant where the city of Asylum was floating and Zakuul the capital of the
Eternal Empire itself, you take control of the Gravestone, and ancient
warship which was needed to take on the eternal fleet. After some run-ins with
Arcann and Vaylin and their Zakuul Knights, lots of talking and Dark/Light side
choices with Valkorion and a scene with Satele Shan in exile you eventually
escape the Eternal Empire’s forces and settle on Odessen with a contingency of
Republic Forces, Imperial Forces, Jedi and Sith alike similar to the alliance
on Yavin in the Shadow of Revan expansion.
My new crew and I discover the Gravestone and you are treated to the very first "montage" that I've seen in SWTOR
This time you are even more so the
focal point of the alliance and were able to do either an inspiring or
intimidating speech which was fun, it then gets complicated as you are
introduced to your base and alliance of various specialists. The ‘alliance’
base built into a cliff on the green world of Odessen is now basically your
central hub like the fleet platform was previously, as well as your regular
crew who were in the story before you are now introduced to many “specialists”
who run different parts of your alliance: Bey’Wan Aygo a
former republic general who commands the alliance military presence, Dr. Oggurobb (who
you may remember from the Makeb missions) an engineering specialist who heads
the science and tech team, Hylo
Visz a smuggler who takes care of the alliance supplies and Sana-rae, a Voss mystic who
curates the Force Enclave.

Conversations are slightly different in the expansion as it
now looks a lot like Dragon Age as instead of a wheel you have black bars on
the top and bottom of the screen and a more plain list of multiple answers (up
to 4 now). Influence in KOTFE works a bit differently to the initial game, the
people you are speaking to are now “amused” or “will remember this” and you can
read the notes in the companion window. Speaking of which, the companion window
has been redesigned to support the “Alliance
system” it’s difficult to explain but you can influence with everyone and
can call anyone (apart from the specialists) to help you in combat. There is a
‘notifications’ section on the companions window which alerts you to various
missions you can do to find more companions to add to your alliance who are
mostly companions characters from other classes like Yuun or “new” characters like Nico Okarr.

Additionally the
companion alerts menu gives you ‘Star Fortress’ missions from Theron Shan, the
enemy has set up various Star
Fortresses above many planets under their control to subdue the population
and you must destroy them, when doing this you liaise with a characters you may
have met before on that particular planet and gain them as a companion. The
Star fortresses are basically short instances that need to be completed with
two people in order to defeat the npc in command the destroy them. I’ve
basically done all that I can up to a point, I think I ran out of something or
other that you needed to do daily missions on the planets to obtain supplies to
do the Star Forge mission. I used Lana most of the time as she is my most
“influenced” companion and managed to get enough credits to purchase a new set
of Outlander
Pummeler gear which I dyed pale yellow and along with my yellow crystal
lightsaber made a nice effect. I also managed to finally finish The Dread Fortress
defeating Dread Master Brontes and after destroying the
star fortress on Alderaan I
thought it was time to finish up on the Jedi Knight for now.

It was then on to my Bountry Hunter Txan who if I recall was
up to Nar Shadaa, I still
have not been able to romance Mako
yet but I guess I’ll get there. While doing Nar Shadaa I completed the Directive 7
flashpoint (FP) in Tactical mode and the Boarding
Party FP in solo mode. I finished off the pretty mediocre story for Nar
Shadaa which was something about killing a rival gang as usual I was then on to
Tatooine which I passed
without too much trouble. I killed a world boss, I met the mysterious Lady of
Pain and chased Tyresius
Lokai who turned out to be Gault
Rennow who I totally forgot was one of the Bounty Hunter companions, so now
I have two companions, though Gault is a damn greedy bastard who might be hard
to please. I also completed The Foundry
to finish off the Empire side of that series. So that was that I guess for my
Bounty Hunter, can’t think of anything else especially exciting that happened.

And so it was back to my Inquisitor and time to finally
start the Shadow
of Revan expansion on Rishi,
I was still wearing my old Citidel
Duelist Force Lord gear that I had dyed light purple and dark red XD and
decided to keep it for the duration of the quests but unfortunately there was
nothing else that was better really though I gave the Raider’s
Cove Boltblaster armor to Andronikos
Revel as it suited his style and he looks pretty damn awesome in it hah. It
was during this time I decided to start using a Security Key again, for two
reasons, one to keep my account safe and two to get all those sweet companion
customizations, specifically the one for Xalek that hides his
hood and gives him more bone-mask facepaint. I have forgotten to mention that
in KOTFE doing missions for your specialists gives you loot boxes which often
contain adaptable orange gear which can be used by anyone, and was testing
different outfits on Xalek as I wanted to change his appearance. I originally
had my Jedi Knight make some new armor that actually may have been light armor,
but although this looked ok him all dressed in red Xalek is actually a tank so
the cloth didn’t suit, I could almost hear him saying that “Master I need
better armor to protect myself” lol. So I gave him the Dreadseed armor plus parts of the
Devoted Allies Bulwark
armor and got him lookin pretty good.

The Empire side of Rishi wasn’t too much
different I found that there is a class quest inside all of them though with my
Jedi Knight communicating with his old master and my Sith Assassin researching
immortality. I completed the Blood
Hunt flashpoint which was lots of fun to do again and then on to the Battle of Rishi, and then
in no time I was on Yavin 4.

Except this time the questing was much shorter as since the last patch you no
longer received companion gear as rewards which kind of sucked as I’d really
like to get some new outfits as they are great to mix and match and swap around
with. The battle with Revan was much harder this time as I didn’t realise at
first but I had Light armor on so was much more vulnerable to Revan’s attacks
and ended up dying for the first time. I basically had to take every measure I
could to avoid death, I called up Talos to do healing and activated my tank
mode with the shield bubble on myself and avoided combat where I could. I was
actually glad I didn’t need to do that battle numerous times as it was
difficult. Once I had finished off Revan it was on to Ziost again though the
missions as before weren’t too much different on Empire side though I decided
to do some Dark choices this time such as sending Master Surro who had been
under the emperor’s influence to be experimented on (Lana’s choice) instead of
being sent for rehabilitation, could have been worse though I could have killed
her instead. So that was that on my Assassin, I did the lonely ruined Ziost
missions again and then hunt up my saber in preparation for Knights of the
Fallen Empire, oh yeh!

Then I was back on my Sage to hit up three flashpoints in a
triple whammy: Hammer Station, Athiss and Mandalorian Raiders which I literally blasted
through with others on tactical mode. Then I was up to Taris wading through
the muck and saving lives as I may have mentioned my Sage has an evil side and
I decided to kill off a Kel
Dor Master who had been infected, much to the dismay of his Padawan but she
realised it was for the best. I was actually spurred on by a republic officer
whose men he had killed and It’s actually pretty funny to see the Male Jedi
Sage be evil as he sounds so calm, at least it’s made easier by Qyzen approving of killing
powerful enemies. I also received a set of robes that I swear was meant for
females as I looked like the biggest queer but stats better so meh I won’t have
to wear it for long as I’ll do another round of heroics and get a new set.
Man these robes look really out of place and impractical for Taris not to mention I look like a ninny

Shaddaa where I met my new companion Tharan
Cedrax along with his delightful hologramatic friend Holiday, who I also
didn’t realise at first that they were a Consular companion. I wanted to
confide with Bareesh the Hutt and not mention his past to the republic
ambassador but I did the particular quest with a group and the other guy who
chose the light side option and won the roll so I had to do it the same way
anyway, gaaah oh well that’s what happens when you do those kind of quests with
people. The Jedi who had the sickness was a very charismatic Master named Duras
Fain who acted like a gang leader and even had scantily clad women around him
and boasted that he’d slept with my Master Youn Par. I defeated him and then
had a run-in with the Hutt Cartel enforcers who wanted him as well but managed
to stave them off with a bribe, I felt like killing Fain or giving him to the
Cartel but I had to have Tharan with me and he wouldn’t approve. So I shielded
the infected Jedi while weakening myself again.

Later on you head to a spacecraft which is being taken over
by Laranna Fain, Duras Fain’s daughter who had met with the creator of the
plague Lord Vivicar and was now killing it’s crew members, you defeat her by
sacrificing some of your power again then you get to speak Lord Vivicar himself
and he tells you that the Jedi who came up with cure lost his life while
healing others which kind of ominous, gives me even more reason to continue
killing hah.
"You know those compassionate Jedi, I'm not one of them, though I may look and sound like one"
I had decided for most of my companions I would get the
customisation that required a security key so my companions would be different
from everyone elses so I got the one for Qyzen which was a dark blue instead of
yellow. I got Txan my bounter hunter to create some new armor for Qyzen as he’d
had the same stuff on for a while which was difficult as the same armor changes
style when you post it to a Republic character, frankly I would have rather had
the Empire version but the armor looked ok on him as I put a dark green and
dark blue dye so it suited his features though I think I might set him back to
yellow skin and it goes well with my characters yellow skin, lol it almost
seems like companions are a becoming fashion accessories. The next stop was the
beautiful and picturesque Alderaan,
where I had to get into some kind of meeting of all of the houses of Alderaan
and that was when my subscription ran out. As I mentioned before it was getting
pretty hard to keep track of all of my abilities as I had gotten to 53 so was
past the old maximum level but I guess that’s something you have to get used to
with the new system.
I just got rid of my girly armor and actually get to wear a hood for once then I get another silly looking helm which has better stats, I can't win. At least Qyzen looks pretty cool in his new customization skin and armor.
So as I said big new changes for 4.0 pretty much all of them
good if not for the dumbing down of the game and update on each of my
characters story progress or otherwise, I'd hate to say it again but there still needs to be a proper dual-spec system. Stay tuned for my Jedi Knight’s foray
