I haven’t done a post on these remakes in a while as I only
usually do if the newly remade creation is somewhat different to the original,
whether they were bigger, more complex, or better designedas playingin creative mode has the obvious advantage of unlimited resources. So as
with other remade creations such as my Grey
Tower they often come out very different to what was made in the
restrictions of multiplayer, not to mention the fear of the server being reset
for an impending new game update which always seem to come up at the wrong
time.
I’ve decided to feature my Zeppelin being the obvious choice as it’s had
a major change since the multiplayer version, I’ll also be featuring my Temple
of Water Love though it’s had fairly minor changes that come when a building is
built into the landscape then is rebuilt in a different location. Both
creations from this
post back in October 2011 and some of my Tribalfield friends will notice
the Temple and the Zeppelin from the 1.7 and 1.8 maps respectively, I had
decided to re-create them in my main world as I wanted to get rid of the two
rather large maps out of my Minecraft install. I still have them saved though.
Zeppelin
My Zeppelin in particular I wanted to remake as it had the
one major change of the balloon not being mostly made out of cobblestone. Which
sounds kind of ridiculous but as I originally I wanted to use wool the amount
of sheep I would have had to shear was horrendous, so I settled for just a
coloured wool trim. This time however the balloon is in full colour and
splendour with my initials plastered on it as is the norm, just so people know
it’s me you know? I made a slight error with the balloon design, I’d made it
within even lines instead of odd, without a single row of blocks down the middle:
Like this - [][][][]
Instead of this - [][][][][]
So basically what that meant was in order for the Zeppelin
boat to sit properly, I would have to make it wider, and in case you don’t
know, making things like aeroplanes and boats with no middle row of blocks
doesn’t make things easy but I had to pull it off as there was no way I was
re-making the balloon. So it turned out kind of weird, but ok I think. I also
remade my Zeppelin tower with the “Hoegaarden” which was pretty simple and worked
fine except that this part of my very old singleplayer map was apparently a
swamp biome and had that greenish tinge. As you have probably noticed I decided
to use Misa’s 64x64 texture pack as Faerielight 256x256 didn’t look to good at all with
the balloon wool.

As you can see the drivers seat is slightly off-centre, ah anyway
More deck and cabin space this time with the two extra blocks

Templo del amor, del agua (The Temple of Water Love)
My
remake of the temple of water love didn't change too much apart from
the different location changing the shape slightly as the floor of the
ocean was deeper down and this the shaft was deeper apart from that it
came out fine. I remember when I first made it, it was in a part of my
now very old world that it didn't rain and boy that did not help as the
whole feature of the temple is when it rains. Also the Faerielight 256x256 texture pack gives it a nice touch.
Rain comes through here....
And goes through here...
And ends up ere!
So
just a quick Minecraft update, I'll be back for more Minecraft goodness
with my adventures with Richy D in his world of Ralgon and the next
episode of the Adventures of JD aka the almighty Brick Mansion.
JD I'd to fly, high in the sky, in an eagle's domain in the sun
Guten
abend everyone, back with some more Minecraft Creations. During my recent
activities on the Ozgamerparty Minecraft server I had been planning to make a
great new undergound house, but alas with my previous faction Atomic‘s
“Psynapse“ not being set to ‘peaceful‘ unfortunately our underground mini
island home was ransacked and most of my resources were lost. SO I had to find
a new home with a new faction and I did with Rennz‘ “Aniki“ in which I quickly
set up as a house in a small crevasse I fondly named the “Slum District“. I had
wanted to create a slightly different version of my Jungle
Treehouse as this time it would be made of oak and this time it would
resemble a normal minecraft oak tree except be giant in size.
I managed to create this right on the edge of our claim, I mean literally the leaf blocks on the edge of the right side were on the edge of the claim, now thats precision craftsmanship.
Wide angle
I
also must mention that I am using a new texture pack, namely Faerielight
by Develsaa. I recently had to resert to finding a new 256x256 texture pack as
my beloved LB
Photorealism wasn’t up to date at the time (though I think it is now)
Though I think I’m going to stay with Fairielight as I quite like the look of
it although the text thatis used with
it is kind of difficult to work with and I can’t change it as I can’t get Optifine
to work with the new update for some reason. I looked through a few other packs
some of which looked terrible though I must admit not all 256x256 packs are
made with realism in mind.

So
I set off to cut some wood and man‘o‘man did I get a lot of wood and put it to
good use (snigger). I borrowed Rennz‘ efficiency II diamond axe which helped
immensely, I must have felled so many trees during that period that the
Minecraft Environmental Conservation Society (MECS) almost arrested me for
deforestation but of course I’d planted the saplings so they had nuthin, it’s
lucky that trees in MC respawn so fast. And so with my huge haul of oak logs I
started making the tree trunk, plan was simple, make the trunk wide enough to
live in, and have a tall enough trunk so that when I add the leaves it doesn’t
appear too short. I finished the trunk pretty quickly having needed to go back
for more logs once or twice, but man can I tell you that the new "stack logs sideways" feature brough in by patch 1.3.1 is fucking annoying. For example in order to stack logs upright now you have to be above them, which annoyed the fack out of me to no end since I was only placing logs upright on the tree and the amount of times I accidentally put the log sideways cause I apparently wasn't above it was alot I can tell you.
I Then started on the leaves at the top, and I was
going to need quite the shiteload of leaves in that regard. I must have gone
through about 15 shears running around that forest slicing foliage off the trees like
some kind of crazed farmer who had misplaced his sheep and needed to vent his
frustration, after realising that the trees don’t actually grow their leaves
back I had to cut all the bare trunks down and plant all the saplings for a
second time lest the MECS be on my ass again.
That I do.
I
started creating the leaves part of the treehouse and basically did it in 6x5
blocks, it wasn’t any specific size I just wanted it to resemble a giant
Minecraft tree which it ended up looking like a sort of sombrero, possibly becaise I had to shave a bit off the bottom of the rim to fit in the balcony.
HolaseƱor!
I built a ladder all
the wall through the tree with atrapdoor up the top with some stairs cut in order to get up to the top
of the tree and walk around the edge. I then started on the bottom level where
I had to jut the double iron doorway out one block so I could put the stone
floor panel out of the way of the work area, I had a fair amount of brown wool
from my sheep shearing escapades so I decided to use that for the floor. I arranged
my chests and workbench and cut holes in the trunk for windows and put iron bars
on them for protection and soon realised that there wasn’t exactly much room
inside the trunk so I had to dig out a lower level for my furnaces. The space
issue was a bit more evident on the upper floors as I found I really didn’t
have much room for my usual bedroom furnishings on the 2nd level such as a bed,
bookshelves, flower pots, a chest and juke box and it ended up being quite
cramped, though this was remedied by adding glassed windows including a double
on one side.
Trapdoor at the top of the ladder
Hole and stairs at the top
Mah door be jutting.
The carpet does look a bit gritty with the texture pack, then again you can get kind of gritty in Minecraft
That'll hold off the Zomabies
Furnace room, not much room but then again I don't need much.
Usual Minecraft bedroom amenities
The
third level would be my alchemy/enchanting room although I eventually had to
split them into two, the alchemy room led out to the outer full-cricle balcony which I had
created with logs and leaves which goes against the “big Minecraft tree“ idea
but looks quite nice anyway. The enchanting room on the 4th level was kind of a
challenge as there wasn’t enough room to do the usual enchanting setup, not to
mention that books now need leather to be created which is a major pain in the
rear and has led to a major growth in cow poaching and farming for everyone to
supply their enchanting addictions. Anyway so there wasn’t enough room so I had
to put the enchanting table right next to the ladder so the bookshelves had
space to work their magic which wasn’t exactly preferable from an interior
design perspective but is manageable. After that all I had to do was arrange
windows (that showed basically nothing but foliage) and it seemed to be
complete though because of the multiple levels and the height of the roofs in the
enchanting and alchemy rooms only had wood floors and I preferred to always
have a layer of wood or something else under the wool carpet.

I’d
be lying if I said this will be last treehouse I make whether it‘s
house-in-a-tree or house-that-is-a-tree but next time I really think I will try
to do something different although it probably will still be a wacky style of house,
cause you know that’s how I roll. Though maybe I should try something
different, Da_Seano of our server has made a pretty nicelookingtavern, maybe
I could trump him with a luxury restaurant ,anyway full details of the recent
Ozgamerparty MC server will follow, lebewohl for now.
Once I returned to the Ozgamerparty server, I
shacked up with my friend Lupidoo as I had before in his miniature little claim
of Pandaland in a middle of some big forest northeast of spawn, his place
really wasn’t that big but he managed to make a small space for me to build my
house in. Basically
I just wanted to make a basic two story house, because as you know I don’t try
to pull off big crazy schemes in multiplayer anymore, I didn’t take too long to
come up with the material for building either, I saw that we were in
a forest and there usually is a large amount of birch in forest biomes, and
there was in this one. So after hacking down (and replanting of course) a large
number of birch trees I started making the house.
An aerial (well in a tree) shot of the house and Pandaland, as you can see, it is quite small (the claim not the house).
I made a basic square design
and used wooden slabs for stairs leading up to the 2nd level. I did the windows sparingly on the lower level as two sides of the house we facing the stone wall. For
the roof I decided to go with design I had used for my Tree
Mansion except without the wooden slabs on the top course just the birch
wood and the glass panes, for the top I out a dirt block down and grew an
actual birch tree, this coupled with the width of the roof and the many layers
of the ‘pyramid’ style I use made it quite tall and rose above the treetops.
I used a mixture of birch logs and wood for
the window frames, my friend Atomic mentioned that my house “looked like a cow” which I
suppose it would using the default texture pack.
The Birch House rises!
I sort of did the lower level interior twice, as I basically
just had two chests, 4 furnaces, a workbench, a wooden couch and a pool table
yes a pool table, I always now have pool tables, they might be small with cue
sticks looking strangely like fence posts and apparently have no pockets or
balls but yeh it’s a pool table. After I was overloaded with a generous amount
of new items from Atomic so I had to re-arrange the furniture in order to put in
another two double chests to store it all, but there was still enough room for
everything apart from the “pool cues”.
Lower level before the change
Lower level after the change
Top floor
The top floor I basically decorated the usual way, though I
made a new and more interesting looking bookshelf with some empty shelves. I
made my usual bed with wool carpet surrounded by a half-bookshelf wall, some
iron bars to guard the edge of the stairway and a wooden couch, some indoor plants and a water feature coming
from the roof. I had an ill-fated attempt to create a fireplace (in my house
made of wood no less) and ended up burning down half the upper floor walls and
roof as I had inconveniently forgotten that fire spreads vertically as well as
horizontally.
I thought I'd include this shot with the now half-demolished forest in the background, that wasn't me by the way though I did burn down half my roof at one point.
Didn’t do much around the area surrounding the house as
there wasn’t much room, just added some birch saplings for decoration, I’ll
have to get Lupi to extend the claim so I can make an extension, maybe a spa or
something, I really have to make him do a proper house at some point maybe
refurbish that barn of his.
Yes, yes I concede I'm treehouse crazy no wonder the infamous Jason1211 called me a "tree hugging hippy" These two creations were done on two different servers, well one mostly in singleplayer, the Green Hill Sanctuary on FusionBlox and the Jungle Treehouse on the new Ozgamerparty Minecraft Server
Green Hill Sanctuary and Tree Mansion
Ahh a sanctuary, I’m becoming increasingly fond of creating sanctuaries for myself in Minecraft, whether it be on a cloud made of wool in the sky or a house dug into the ground I sometimes feel the need to shield myself off from monsters and sometimes even other players unless I’m in a town community as I am currently. However the setting for this creation was rather a lonesome one as I had mentioned in my previous post I had come from a brief stay in the Mikeland Factions server I had returned to Fusionblox and was still having a lot of trouble finding a group of people to build with, it did seem a friendly server but very group-oriented so much so that I couldn’t even find the group of new guys to play with, also I have to mention that there were a few restrictions on this server so unless you paid a fee you couldn’t get access to certain features such as teleporting and chest protection. So I was wandering alone by myself and finally decided to just go back to what I had done in the beginning and build one my own, while watching the conversations go past and listening to Skype and thus began to build my ingenious creation.

An early shot of when I was setting out the base
I had been wandering through a forest when I came across a small raised hill, which gave me a good idea for a wall, but a very environmental wall, well as environmental as chopping down trees then making them into wooden plants then building a wall, can be so I built the wall about 5 or 6 blocks high around the entire hill, this was basically just to keep out the monsters as I decided to create an entrance at the front and dig out an entryway with some steps to the top of the hill which was covered in trees. I called it my “Green Hill Sanctuary” sanctuary from monsters that is (well technically spiders could climb the walls) you can’t get sanctuary from other players not matter how hard you try, unless you’re an admin but of course if you’re an admin you already have to deal with moaning players on a daily basis.

I then started work on what would be humble abode, and you guessed it, it would be a treehouse. This treehouse was actually a variation on my first major treehouse that was created back in March/April 2011, I basically used the same design structure I had used in the past which is basically making large square (or rectangle) wooden platforms on top of the surrounding trees, then joining them together using stairs and more wooden planks. This time I decided to focus on more interior than exterior and made the rooms quite large, of course I had to factor in rooms for both Enchanting and Alchemy, so this made the whole structure a bit bigger (though the library can double as an enchantment room). I made roof access and fences around but it was really just for convenience as most of the features were inside the house.

The Library and Enchanting Table
The Alchemy Room, yes it's quite big I know
The Pool room with what's supposed to be a fish tank
In the past I was finding it hard to fill some of my larger houses or creations especially with so many floors or open spaces. I used quite a few inspirations from a website I found that detailed various ingenious and well designed Minecraft Furniture, most of the designs you see here come from what I've seen both on the website and on their server, even though things like a Minecraft gym or pinball machine might seem bizarre I urge everyone to take a look if they are ever stuck on how to properly furnish a house or building.

As I mentioned previously I had to get a mod to do some pretty tricky things for me to get this into a singleplayer map for me to be able to work on but of course in doing this he had to take the rather large chunk of land and dump it into another so the whole hill didn’t exactly match up, I decided to just fill in the gaps with dirt and make a staircase up to the entrance from the lower ground, this didn’t exactly work as I’d hoped, and the funny thing was a short time after it had been completely finished I went into the FusionBlox server and found that the survival map hadn’t even been wiped for the new patch yet but ahh if I hadn’t of had it moved I would have lost it and had to rebuild in singleplayer anyway. I think that it came out pretty well I had a rooms for just about everything and I also made a small farm inside the sanctuary I named it the Tree mansion though it really wasn’t that big, tree house wise it was quite a mansion indeed.
This is awalkthrough I made of the whole Sanctuary, sorry it's not the best quality it's the first time I've tried soemthing like this before.
Jungle Treehouse
After the whole debacle with making the huge tree mansion in multiplayer. I decided that my first house on the Ozgamerparty Minecraft Server was going to be simple but still effective and worthy of my talents (insert ego-related remark here) though I have long since realised that it's not easy to change nature to your own designs (unless of course you are these people) I have tried time and time again to make a good looking tree house, but due to spacing requirements you just end up with a big fat trunk and one hell of a job if you're going to make it look like the rest of the trees in Minecraft.
Front view
View from the top, there is a trapdoor at the very top leading to the leafy roof
The bottom level
So I decided to just build a reasonably small trunk nothing too big with a sort of leafy roof, I used all logs and wood from jungle biomes and planted ferns around to keep the jungle theme.I also made one hell of an effort to get enough cocoa beans to carpet my bedroom in brown wool, all I can say is that it took a lot of dungeon searching and infiltration. The whole thing has 3 levels and a balcony on two and also an underground basement, nothing too fancy just simple and functional.

Thats it for now, stay tuned for the full report on the new Ozgamerparty server and the Tribalfieldies return.
